The Lowell, New York

Located on New York’s 63rd Street, just off Madison Avenue, The Lowell Hotel had little to no public space prior to its refurbishment. Reconfiguring the ground floor and basement allowed a new lobby, bar, restaurant and residents’ club room to be created, as well as new basement kitchens and staff facilities. The classically-conceived plan creates a series of interlinked spaces, with axial vistas leading guests through the hotel from the street entrance to the newly created terrace at the rear. Working with contractors from France, Germany and the US, each space was given its own visual identity to create an environment where guests can eat, drink and relax in the style of a grand country house.
