Ahead of the Bauhaus centenary in 2019, Frieze Academy are delighted to present a symposium debating its enduring legacy across art, design and architecture. Hosted by design historian, curator and writer Emily King, this symposium will explore the contemporary reception of this eminent – but often misrepresented – cultural movement.

What does the term ‘Bauhaus’ mean to a contemporary audience? Has it simply become a label, with all context lost? What impact has it had, and continues to have, on the creative lives of artists, designers, architects and even on how art is taught?

This day is for anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of Bauhaus across all mediums, or for creative professionals who would like to explore the contemporary re-contextualisation of Bauhaus by hearing from expert practitioners.
