Put pencil to paper in a day all about drawing. Join us for our annual celebration of architecture through drawing, with workshops and activities exploring different techniques, styles and practices. Whether you are a skilled draughtsman or a complete novice, there’s something for families, young people and adults alike.
Explore and Draw (for young people and adults)
Take a tour of the RIBA one room at a time and undertake a series of sketching challenges.
One-hour sessions at 12pm and 2.30pm. This event has only 20 spaces and is first come, first served. A sign-up sheet will be available in reception from 11am.
A Different Perspective, 11am-4pm (for families, young people and adults)
Capture a moment in time of the RIBA at one of our drawing stations. Placed at different viewpoints, using specific materials, we invite you to take part in various challenges that will make you see things from a different perspective.
Scale Up or Down? 11am-4pm (for families, young people and adults)
Play with perspective and create a drawing of a street scene to add to our evolving exhibition. Which buildings will you scale up and which will you scale down?
Acetate Cityscape, 11am-4pm (for families, young people and adults)
Taking inspiration from our collection, look beyond the RIBA’s building to help us recreate the London skyline using sharpies on acetate.
Draw like an architect! (For families, young people and adults)
We’ll be using the drawing tools of an architect to think about how to draw the plan, section, elevation and perspective of the space around you. Unlock the mystery of architectural drawing by starting with simple geometric elements and build upon them to visually communicate the space around you. Led by Dennis Austin of daab design architects.
